Madrid, the capital and largest city of Spain, is located in the heart of the Iberian Peninsula. It is a vibrant and charming city that combines rich history, culture, cuisine, entertainment, and outdoor activities. In fact, it is a beautiful city to visit throughout the year.

Renfe, the Spanish railway operator, has recently launched a new winter activity on its “CarnaÃas” system, offering passengers the opportunity to explore the mountainous areas surrounding Madrid at very affordable prices. After making significant improvements to the Zona Verde (‘green zone’) C9 line and its various stations, Renfe has introduced this promotional activity to encourage visitors to take full advantage of the revitalized services.

The C9 line (‘green zone’) will take passengers to the surrounding areas of the Guadarrama Mountain Range, including the southern side of the Seven Peaks, the Valle de ValsaÃn, Navacerrada or Cercedilla, and Miraflores de la Sierra, among others, allowing them to explore and enjoy nature in different ways. You can explore the beautiful landscapes from the stations in Cercedilla, Navacerrada, and Cotos.

The promotional activity started on December 2nd and will continue until March 31st, 2024, including the first and last days. The one-way ticket costs 8.70 euros, while the round-trip ticket costs 17.40 euros. In addition, Renfe has also introduced a 2+1 special offer: purchasing two adult tickets entitles you to a free round-trip ticket for a child (under 11 years old), valid from Monday to Friday (excluding holidays).

However, the Renfe CercanÃas application does not provide tickets for the C-9 line. These tickets can only be reserved in person at the Madrid CercanÃas stations, preferably six days in advance. If you decide not to travel after purchasing or reserving the tickets, please cancel the reservation promptly to provide the possibility for others to travel.
